The story of two old Iranian women; Sakineh and Nimtaj, widows of the same man. They live in the same house, lead a life as two close friends but are at the same time rivals. Having been married to Haj-Abbas, as his first and second wife, they were left alone without children after he died. The women quarrel over a trifle like a broken bowl, but nevertheless they take care of each other. Their jealousy and anger as well as their care for each other are marking their friendship.
They are now obviously closely connected and sharing a certain affection towards one another.
This film is a fascinating portrait of the excruciatingly painful co-existence with a sociological & anthropological disciplines.
